How to transcribe a podcast episode to text
A podcast transcript gives you a searchable working draft for reviewing an episode and finding useful passages. Start with the clearest audio you have and budget time to check the generated words.
1. Upload the episode
Choose Transcription and upload an audio file such as MP3, WAV, or M4A, or a supported video recording. Check the duration and your remaining transcription allowance before processing. Choose the main language of the recording.
2. Review the timestamped draft
Play the recording while reading the transcript. Correct guest names, specialist terms, numbers, and passages with overlapping speakers. Use timestamps to return to uncertain phrases. Do not treat an AI draft as a verbatim quotation until you have checked it against the original audio.
3. Save the reviewed result
Keep the edited transcript in the project and export SRT or VTT when you need a timestamped subtitle file. You can use reviewed passages as a starting point for your own show notes, with surrounding context checked. For video clips, use a video source; an audio-only upload is not a filmed podcast.
Before you publish
- Guest names and technical terms are correct.
- Quotes preserve the speaker’s context.
- Timestamps align with the recording.
- Your source and exported files are saved locally.
